Preliminary information
Before getting into the tutorial and see how to record a free phone call, allow me to provide you with some preliminary information that you must necessarily know to properly use the apps listed in the next chapters.
First of all, to know that, despite what one might think, recording phone calls (even without the knowledge of whoever is on the other side of the handset) is not a crime. The law, in fact, prohibits the dissemination of such conversations and not their recording.
With that clarified, let me show you some free (or, in some cases, semi-free) apps to record phone calls. I already anticipate that, to use them, there is no need to unlock the root permissions on Android or to jailbreak the iPhone. In short: there is no need for any particular configuration, so ban the chatter and let's get started!
How to record a free phone call on Android
Let's start by looking at some apps for record a phone call for free on android: below, I'll show you the operation of a couple of solutions that I think can be right for you!
RMC: Android Call Recorder
One of the best apps to use to record phone calls on Android is RMC: Android Call Recorder. Haven't you ever heard of it? Don't worry: we'll fix it right away. It is a 100% free application that works optimally on all devices equipped with the green robot system, even if on some devices the interlocutor's audio may have a not very high volume and / or be a little '"Muffled".
After installing and starting RMC: Android Call Recorder on your smartphone, tap the button Allow and then press on the item Allow three consecutive times: in this way, you will grant the app all the permissions it needs to function properly.
Now, tap the button (≡) which appears to be located in the upper left corner, select the wording Settings from the menu that opens laterally, on the left, and then presses on the item Recording. Make sure, therefore, that the check mark is placed on the option Activate Service (if not, check the relevant option yourself) and that's it. From this very moment, RMC: Android Call Recorder will automatically record all the calls that will be made on your smartphone. Convenient, right?
When a phone call is over, you will be able to listen to the recording made directly from the application. How can you do it? You simply have to tap on the tab Don't organize, in the main screen of the app, press on registration name and tap the button Play, in the menu that opens.
If the interlocutor's voice should be a little too low, you can try to remedy the situation by exporting the recording to the computer (it should be in the folder RecordMyCall device) and amplify the volume with software such as Audacity (if you remember, I explained in detail how to use it in my guide on how to use Audacity).
Call recorder
Another app suitable for the purpose of this tutorial is Call recorder. In case you have never heard of it, it is an application that integrates a fully automatic call recording feature, both inbound and outbound.
After installing and running it on your terminal, tap the button OK and grant it all necessary permissions to function properly. With that done, you simply need to initiate an outgoing call or accept an inbound one and she will take care of the rest. Yes, you got it right! Call Recorder will automatically record the audio of the phone call made or received and save it on your smartphone.
To listen to a phone call that has been recorded, then, all you have to do is press on title of the same present in the main screen of Call Recorder and tap the ▶ ︎ button. If desired, you can save the recorded phone call as an MP3 file by pressing the button Save as MP3, or choose to share it by tapping the button Share away. Più semplice di così ?!
How to record a free phone call on iPhone
If you wish record a free phone call on iPhone, know that there are various apps suitable for this purpose: let me describe the operation of a couple of them.
TapeACall
The first app I suggest you try is TapeACall, which is really simple to use and works pretty well. It can be used free of charge for 7 days, after which you have to take out a subscription, which starts at € 4,99 / month. Before describing how it works, it is my duty to inform you that, at the time of writing, the app is not supported by the Vodafone operator and that for some operators, such as TIM, the activation of the conference function is required (an operation that you can do by contacting the operator).
If so far everything is clear to you, let's proceed: after installing and starting TapeACall on your "iPhone by", tap the button I agree, write yours cellphone number in the appropriate text field, click on the button NEXT and wait for the SMS containing the verification code. At this point, write the code in question in the appropriate text field and press the button Continue.
Now, select the type of subscription you prefer to subscribe between annual e monthly e fai tap sul pulsating Registration begins. In the screen that is shown to you, then press on Country of your interest (eg. city), move up ON the switch levers positioned in correspondence with the markings Consenti notified e Access your contacts, in order to authorize the app to send you notifications and access your address book (to proceed in this sense, you must also tap on the items Allow e OK that appear on the screen). At this point, tap the button Play and read the tutorial on how the app works.
Now, to register a outgoing call, presses on red circular button located in the center of the screen, wait a few seconds, press the button Another call and finally type the telephone number of the person you are interested in (if you want, you can also select it directly from your contacts, if you have the number saved in your address book). Once this is done, start the call and, once the person contacted answers, tap the button Merge shown on the display.
Do you want to register a incoming call? In this case, answer the call, go to the TapeACall screen and press on red circular button, located in the center of the display. Then wait a few moments for the call to the TapeACall recording service to be sent, and then press the button Merge.
Once the recording is finished, to listen to it again, all you have to do is press the button Play located on the main screen of the app and select it.
Call recording
Call recording is another app to record phone calls on iPhone that I recommend you try, especially if, for some reason, you could not use TapeACall. It can be downloaded and used free of charge for three days, after which it costs 7,49 euros / week.
After installing and starting Call recording on your "iPhone by", put the check mark next to the wording Accept, corresponding to the item Terms, then presses the green button Continue (to accept the conditions of use of the service) and, in the screen that opens, tap the button Subscribe now, in order to start the free three-day trial, confirming the operation with the Face ID, touch ID or the Password of your Apple ID.
Now, enter the your mobile number in the text field you see on the screen and presses the button NEXT. Then write the code of confirmation you received in the appropriate text field and tap the button first Continue and then on the keys Continue, OK e Done, to grant the app the permissions it needs to function properly.
Now you just have to press on the tab Dialer (if necessary), dial the recipient number that you call and press the icon of green handset, to initiate the call. To record incoming calls, on the other hand, just answer the received phone call, start Call Recording and press the button Press to register.
All phone call recordings are grouped in the tab Recordings of the app: to listen to them again, just tap on theirs title.
