Useful information and recommendations
Before getting to the heart of the matter, let's go and explain how to record screen with samsung, it seems to me only right to make some clarifications in this regard.
Firstly, as anticipated at the beginning of the article, unfortunately, the South Korean company's smartphones, unlike other Android-based phones, do not integrate a function to record the screen. Consequently, to carry out this operation, it is necessary to exploit specific applications of third-party developers.
The apps in question, however, on devices equipped with 4.4 Android KitKat need the root. So, if you haven't already done so, before using any of the applications I'm going to tell you about, read my tutorial dedicated to how to root Android, in order to unlock your device.
Instead, as regards the devices based on Android 5.0 or higher, no problem, screen recording works even without root permissions. Regarding screen recording using the computer, there are no impediments either with Samsung based on an old version of Android or with the most up-to-date ones.
App to record screen with Samsung
Having made the necessary clarifications above, we can finally get to the point and find out, therefore, which ones Whatsapp you can avail to be able to record screen of Samsung devices. Below you will find listed (and explained) those that in my humble opinion constitute the best in the category. Put them to the test now and you won't regret it!
Rec Screen Recorder
The first app I want to recommend is Rec Screen Recorder. It is free to download and use, but it includes banner ads. To remove them and to get other extra functions, such as the ability to use additional predefined presets for recording settings, you need to switch to the paid variant through in-app purchases (at a cost of 2,79 euros).
To use it, connect to the relevant section of the Play Store, pigia sul pulsating Install e poi quello Accept (if necessary). Then, start the app by pressing the button apri which in the meantime has appeared on the screen or by tapping on his icon which was added to the drawer (the Android screen where all apps are grouped).
At this point, adjust your recording preferences, as you see fit, using the menus Dimension (i.e. resolution), Bit rate e duration. Then choose if you want to enable audio recording by checking the box Audio and indicate the name you want to assign to the final video file by typing it in the field below the item Filename.
Finally, click on the button Register to start recording, tap on the item Allow in response to the warning that appears on the screen to allow the application to access photos, multimedia content and files on the device and tap on the wording Start now. Screen recording will start after a 10 second countdown.
When you want, you can stop recording by calling the one hundred notifications of Android (by swiping from the top to the bottom of the screen) and tapping on the item Touch to stop recording. Alternatively, you can go back to the main Rec Screen Recorder screen and press the button Stop.
All recordings are saved in MP4 format in the folder / Rec / of the device. You can view them by opening the app Gallery (Quella with the orange background and the flower) that you find in the drawer and looking for the album REC.
Mobizen Screen Recorder
As an alternative to the app reported in the previous lines, you can contact Mobizen Screen Recorder to record the screen of your Samsung smartphone: it is one of the most complete screen recording solutions available for Android.
Allows you to make recordings allowing you to adjust the video quality, to choose whether or not to activate the front camera and much more. It also allows you to edit the movie after recording and share it “on the fly”. It's free, but by creating a Premium account (at the basic cost of 1,79 euros / month) you can get extra functions.
To use the app, first download its specific version for Samsung devices by connecting to the relevant section of the Play Store, by tapping the button Install and on that Accept (if necessary). Then, start the app by pressing the button apri that in the meantime has appeared on the screen or by selecting his icon which was added to the drawer (the Android screen where all apps are grouped).
At this point, follow the short introductory tutorial that is proposed to you, accept the terms of use of the app and presses onMobizen Screen Recorder icon pop-up on the right side of the screen, in the foreground. Then tap the button with the camera, presses on the voice Allow to authorize the application to record audio and tap on Start now. After a 3 second countdown, screen recording will start.
If you want to temporarily pause the recording, press the application icon on the right side of the screen again and select the button Pause, while to permanently stop the recording, tap the button Stop.
Once the registration is complete, press on the voice Watch a video to be able to immediately play the created movie, by selecting it from the screen that opens (from which it is also possible to edit the movie by tapping the relative button with the film and the pencil), or choose the item Close to save the movie without watching it. By pressing, instead, on the wording Delete you can cancel the registration.
By default, all videos of the recordings are saved in MP4 format in the folder / Mobizen / device and are visible by opening the app Gallery (Quella with the orange background and the flower) present in the drawer, looking for the album the Mobiz. If you want to change this and other settings (video quality, audio settings, etc.), press the Mobizen icon on the side of the screen, tap the button with the four squares, presses on the symbol ofgear on the new screen that appears and work from there.
AZ Screen Recorder
Another app that, in my opinion, you would do well to consider to record the screen of your Samsung phone is AZ Screen Recorder. It is free, has no time limits, does not display text overlays in recorded videos and is very easy to use. However, it offers in-app purchases (at a cost of € 3,29) to remove banner ads.
To use it, visit the relevant section of the Play Store, fai tap sul pulsating Install and on that Accept (if necessary). Then start the app by tapping the button apri which in the meantime has appeared on the screen or by tapping on his icon which was added to the drawer (the Android screen where all apps are grouped).
At this point, you will see theicon of AZ Screen Recorder on the left side of the screen. If you do not see the relevant menu, press it and select the button with the red background and the camera. Therefore, it is on the voice Start now, in response to the warning that appears on the display, and screen recording will start after a 3-second countdown.
If you need to pause the recording, call up the notification center of Android (by swiping from the top to the bottom of the screen) and presses the button Pause that you find under the name of the application. To stop recording, however, tap on the button Stop.
I also point out the possibility to draw on the screen when the recording is in progress. To do this, press the icon of the pencil that you find next to the name of the app after opening the notification center, then move your finger on the display to start drawing. If you want to change the colors, the thickness of the stroke, undo the last change, delete everything or exit the drawing mode, tap on the symbol of the palette at the top of the screen.
Once the recording is stopped, you will automatically be shown a preview of the same. You can then play the video, share it, edit it or delete it using the available commands.
All movies are saved in MP4 format in the folder / AzRecordrFreee / device and are visible by opening the app Gallery (Quella with the orange background and the flower) present in the drawer, looking for the album AzRecorderFree. If you want, however, you can change this behavior and adjust other parameters relating to the operation of the app by pressing on its icon on the left side of the display, then on the button with thegear attached to the menu that opens and acting on the options attached to the new screen displayed.
Record the Samsung screen from a computer
Now let's move on to the solutions thanks to which it is possible to record the screen of Samsung mobile phones by acting from computer. Below you will find listed what I believe to be the most interesting resources in the category.
AirDroid (Windows / macOS)
The first among the programs to record the screen of Samsung devices that I want to recommend is AirDroid. It is compatible with both Windows and macOS and requires the installation of the companion app on Android. Its main purpose is to allow you to easily and wirelessly connect mobile phones to your computer for performing operations such as file transfer, viewing notifications in real time and remote management. Consequently, it also proves useful for the purpose in question. Basically it is free, but from mobile it offers in-app purchases (starting from 0,59 euros) to unlock extra functions.
To use it, first install the AirDroid app on your Samsung, by connecting to the relevant section of the Play Storepigging your pulse Install and on that Accept (if necessary). Next, visit the AirDroid website from your computer e Create an account by filling in the form proposed on the screen. Then download the desktop client by connecting to this other page of the service site. Pajamas onoperating system icon in use on your computer to download the relevant installation file.
When the download is complete, if you are using Windows, april il .exe file obtained and, in the window that appears on the desktop, click the buttons OK e NEXT. Press on the buttons Accept e Install and finish the setup by pressing the button end. If, on the other hand, you are using MacOS, april il package .dmg obtained, drag theAirDroid icon in the folder Applications say macOS, fai clic destroy your di essa and select the voice apri from the context menu that opens, to start the program, however, going around the limitations that Apple imposes on applications from non-certified developers (an operation that must be performed only at the first start).
Now, take your phone, start the AirDroid app by pressing on the relative icon which was added to the drawer (the screen where you find the icons of all the apps grouped) and follow the login to your account by pressing the button Log in. So, tap on the button Continue and on the voice Allow (twice) to grant the app permissions to access the smartphone features, then presses on the items No e No thanks.
Now you just have to go back to your computer and click on the icon with the binoculars located on the left bar in the program window. Then select the Samsung device and click on the entry Read Only Mode (To the right). On the smartphone you will be shown a warning to grant the computer access to the device: then tap on the item Start now to confirm.
Once this is done, on your computer screen you will be able to see the display of your Samsung branded mobile phone. To start recording (in MP4 format), click on the icon with the video camera placed at the bottom. When you want, you can stop it by clicking on the icon again video camera.
Reflector (Windows / macOS)
Reflector is another good software that you can use to record your Samsung screen. It works on both Windows and macOS and, apart from Android terminals, it is also able to record the screen of the iPhone. It takes advantage of the Google Cast and AirPlay wireless transmission systems, so to work it is sufficient that the two devices are connected to the same wireless network. It costs $ 14,99 but is available in a free trial version that lasts 7 days (but with a watermark on the movies).
To download Reflector on your computer, connect to the program's website and first click on the button Try Free for 7 Days and then on the link relating to operating system you are using on your computer. When the download is complete, if you are using Windows, april il .msi files proceeds. In the window that appears on the desktop, put a check mark next to the item I accept the terms in the License Agreement and complete the setup by clicking on the buttons first install, Yes e Finish. Then start Reflector by double clicking on its collegamento which was added to the desktop.
Se, invece, stai using MacOS, april il package .dmg just got it, drag theprogram icon in the folder Applications macOS, right-click on it and select the item apri twice, to start the program, however, going around the limitations that Apple imposes on applications from non-certified developers (an operation that must be performed only at the first start).
Now, you need to enable smartphone screen casting via Google Cast, selecting your computer as the target device. To do this, take your Samsung, call up the notification center (by swiping from the top to the bottom of the screen), presses the icon of Smart view (Quella with the screen and the arrow) and select your computer from the screen Select the device.
At this point, click on the button Record all located in the Reflector window on your computer and make your recording (in MP4 format). When you want, you can stop the recording by pressing the button Stop and indicating the folder in which to save the movie.
